Journal extract
July 14th 2012
The speed of the chicken project form sketch in the pub to chickens in coop has been a great experience, from the collecting of the materials and building of the coop our combined building experiences have eased the project along which should last for years to come.
The other reason for speed has been to time the arrival of the birds, the local breeder produces point of lay birds ever couple of months if we had missed the July deadline we would have wait too long as we wanted fully grown birds for the winter.
The unexpected outcome of the chicken project for me has been the joy and entertainment of keeping chicken they are almost comical as I watched them find a worm or the first time, or the arrival of the first egg and taste of the first omelet.
The only down side to the project has been the gap between the building phase and the report writing it has been a conscious decision to work on as many building projects in the summer period as possible taking notes, photos and draw sketches. This project has been completed as I am finishing project 5 on-line which brings extra demands on time management. This has also at times lead to less than equitable input between John, Dave and I on the building phase.
